This sand stone monument is meant to commemorate the several hundred Swiss officers who fought to defend King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette during the French Revolution. The Lyon, though maimed, remains unapproachable behind a small natural quarry. "Das Lowendenkmal"claims Danish artist Bertel Thorvaldsen.

THORVALDSENS LION

The oldest road bridge in Europe, Kapellbrucke "Chapel Bridge", was built in 1333. In 1993, almost the entire bridge was destroyed by a fire, and had to be restored. The bridge boasts hand pained frescos along it's triangular roofing panels. Look for panel no. 31, which shows William Tell shooting the apple from his son’s head.

Lucerne is a shoppers dream. The Swiss watches are actually affordable and the selection of army knives is beyond anything I've ever seen. If you aren't into knives with staplers in them, there's always Versace. (Might not be suitable for football)

LUCERNE LOCALS
OK, so sooner or later, you're going to want a cup of coffee. Common, it's not going to kill you, especially not after Amsterdam! Just don't be a 'coffee loser' like me. Cafe' is euro for espresso- a concentrate of my own homelands java: cafe'americana. If you goof, no biggie. Just add half a cows worth of cream or milk and you'll have a Cafe' latte.
ESPRESSO
Often, coffee comes with a small square of chocolate for you to dissolve -- or just devour. Swiss chocolate is its own food group. Toblerone, the bar profiled after the Alps, is at its freshest here. The special limited edition flavors make nice gifts (they're good for breakfast too).
TOBLERONE
CHAPEL BRIDGE

Make sure you change your Euros over to Swiss Franks. Use a bank instead of an exchange whenever possible.
