When
winding down into the town of Innsbruck, the tour spotted
an architectural statement of momentum. The town was
home to the 1996 winter Olympics games. The ski jump
shown here had a lot of people feeling woosie, even
without the snow.

In
the center of the Maria Theresien road Trentiner
sculptor Christof Benedetti has carved the korinthischen
column from red marble. The Virgin Mary stands here
as reminder of Anna day, the 26th of July to give thanks
for freedom from the Bavarians. Behind it stands the
Pin Church which is now a museum.

Goldernes
Dach, a 2,600 leafed, shingle roof of Maximilian was
given to the town as a his own wedding gift. Unfortunately,
the cost of the balcony put the town into debt. What
was to be a private place to voyeur, has now become
the focal point of the town. We were able to order lunch
in full view of it and admire the other baroque exteriors.

Back
at the hotel, the group relaxed under a vined-in porch. Compared to the town center, the scene was still and
quiet. I can remember this being just about the point
that I realized I had made it. I was really here and
plucking grapes from the vine. -phetew, 'lil sour.
